Focus

its overwhelming to be a builder in this day and age. theres so. much you can work on. so much you can do. but yet, you have limited time in the day.

its easy to get focused on tool sharpening(link to manidis essay) instead of building, and do plenty of things that feel productive but really aren't.

whenever im lost, or feel that my attention is too split - i come back to this steve jobs quote :

"focus is wanting to do something with all your heart but still saying no"

this is what we forget. focus is a meta skill. you need it to prioritize tasks at work, to prioritize your life as a whole. it really is everything.

when building is cheap, focus is hard

when its so easy to crank out another feature - you need to recognize when to stop. when your product is coherent enough. when you shouldn't be building another thing, but instead focusing on your customer/niche.

its easy to try and be an everything app, but you arent!

in work

building things is so cheap these days. you can fire up claude code, and get something mroe done.

but you need to be asking yourself, is this really increasing your products value, or is it just a distraction.

are you preventing yourself from focusing on what matters most? is this new feature just added noise? wioll it make it harder to sell or explain your product? what does your product do anyways? is it a podcast player or ai generated insights? do people even talk to their ais?

in life

theres so much yu can do in life, how do you

sure you want to go out, and get drinks with a friend, but is it really worth your time? shiould you meditate? write? draw? 'yeah s
